Allyson Fris, School Outreach Therapist

The school I have been assigned could be described as having a population with low resources.  Providing counseling to the students during the school day and free of charge allows them access to services that may otherwise be unobtainable for a variety of reasons.  The students I worked with appeared to look forward to one-on-one time with an adult in a safe space to explore and share their feelings, thoughts and needs.  This outreach program allows students enter into a counseling relationship, many for the first time, in a setting (school) that is already familiar to them.
